SW Touring Team Has Big Plans For 2011

Damascus Entertainment’s subsidiary SW Touring is making great strides with regard to branding sports as entertainment in Trinidad and Tobago. This year, the company plans to do a lot more for sport following the popularity of its first two Futsal events.
The first major event planned is the “Beasal Invitational - Sun (SOCCER) Sand” which runs from 11-12 June 2011 at Beach Volley Ball Facility, Saith Park, Chaguanas. Beach soccer has grown immensely in popularity around the world and now SW is bringing it to Trinidad. Twenty-four teams will do battle to be T&T’s “Kings of the Sand” in this exciting five-a-side version of the greatest sport on earth.
The second big event runs from the 23rd -25th September 2011 in Tobago. “The Tobago Invitational Masters Football Competition” themed - Welcome to Sporting Paradise will go down at three venues across the island over the three day period. The Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bon Accord and Plymouth recreational grounds will host sixteen over forty regional and international teams for this inaugural festival. There will be official referees, live entertainment, food and a bar at the events.
Finally, the event that started it all will be back in all its glory. On October 9th, the whole day fun event “Futsal – The Hattrick” will take place at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima. Here 24 of the nation’s best teams will compete for $15000 cash and prizes in the country’s biggest futsal event.

El Classico To Be The Highlight Of UCL Semi’s

Spanish mega clubs Barcelona and Real Madrid cruised through their quarterfinal matches against Shakhtar Donetsk and Tottenham Hotspur respectively to earn a spot against each other in the Champions League Semis. The teams which feature arguably the world’s two greatest players in Lionel Messi (Barcelona) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Madrid) must now meet for the second of five meetings between the teams this year. Barcelona previously beat Madrid 5-0 in Spanish league play. They must now meet for two legs in the Champions league as well as in the Spanish league and Spanish League Cup competitions.
Though the Spanish pair will provide the more anticipated of the two semifinal ties, the Manchester United versus Shalke battle is one which should not be overlooked. Manchester United have a chance to win a possible, yet unlikely treble this season as they are also favourites to win both the domestic league and cup titles this year. Alex Ferguson’s men will have a difficult task winning the Champions league as the face a resilient Shalke outfit. Moreover, Manchester has not feared well against German opposition in the past despite beating Bayern Munich for the UCL title in their treble winning year of 1999. Man U progressed after beating Chelsea 3-1 on aggregate while Shalke defeated Inter Milan 6-3 in their home and away fixtures.
