Get Him to the Greek
GHTG is the new slapstick comedy from the producers of a slew of slapstick comedies including The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Funny People, Judd Apatow. It stars funny guys Jonah Hill and Russell Brand with Jonah as a record company intern sent on a two day mission: get uncooperative rock legend (Brand) to Hollywood for a comeback concert.
The overzealous 23-year-old Jonah had exaggerated his way into the dream job just in time for a career-making assignment – with Sean p Diddy Combs as his boss, equipped with a barrage of out of tune jokes. Jonah’s task is to fly to London and escort the rock god to L.A.'s Greek Theatre for the first-stop on his multimillion dollar tour. Diddy warns him of Brand’s notoriety and even gives him a ‘reviver needle’ in case something goes wrong. Brand plays a British rocker Aldous Snow, a brilliant musician and walking sex figure. Apparently weary of his wealth he’s searching for the meaning of life, but remains open to an orgy or two as it comes. He falls in love in California and the show goes from New York City brawls and Vegas lap dances to all heights of bizarre, with the f-bomb dropping at every turn. Jonah finds himself ‘going along with the flow’ which in this case is drunken parties and fast girls.
The story line’s not exactly new but Brand’s peculiar brand of acting not to mention his catching accent adds some twist. So to see it or not? Well… what else is on?
