ET&T Hot Seat with Ashanna Arthur

Meet Ashanna Arthur, our silently hilarious Miss Trinidad and Tobago representative.  Ashanna represented Trinidad in December 2009 at the pageant in South Africa, unbeknownst to most.  Miss Arthur was game enough to tackle our Hot Seat so we played nice… and got trumped!

 

ETNT:  How did you get caught up in the model world?

Ashanna:   Well secretly I’ve always wanted to be a model (like every other girl). When I got to the age of initiative I started going to classes to learn the basics. The competition came up very soon after that and I suppose I had what it took to be successful.

 

ETNT:  What were you occupied with before that?

Ashanna:   I finished my degree last year in May. I was working after graduation but couldn`t pass up the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream.

 

ETNT:  ‘All models know fashion’ agree or disagree?

Ashanna:   Hmmm. Interesting question. I think everyone has their own sense of style, and whatever you wear is fashion, even though it may not be the popular fashion . But if we are talking the conventional notion of fashion, international designers, trends, styling …..I would say no.

 

ETNT:  What did you think about P Elias giving up the Franchise?

Ashanna:   I was surprised, I really didn`t expect it. Obviously he`s done an incredible job in making sure our girls are top competitors in the pageants and has a great track record,  he is still offering his services as an advisor, so we can be happy about that.

 

ETNT:  How was the experience representing T&T in…?

Ashanna:   South Africa, Abu Dhabi , London. A lot harder than anticipated. Being beautiful 24/7 seems glamorous, but 7 days a week, for 5 weeks, you really come to realize it’s a job. You have to be 100 % committed to the competition 24hours a day. At times it was frustrating, and other times it was pure enjoyment.   Apart from the hard work , I got to see some amazing sights , learn about different cultures, and spread my culture with people from all over the world. It  was definitely eye opening and enlightening.

 

ETNT:  What was your favorite moment?

Ashanna:   Can I please put more than one? LOL There were so many!  Holding an adorable 6 month old cub. Being selected in the top 12 in the Miss World Sport Competition. All the time spent  with the girls from the different countries .All the nights I spent chatting with my roommate (I taught her about “liming” and “macoing “)Seeing one of the South African children carrying my country flag in the opening ceremony for the Final Show.

 

ETNT:  If you fell on stage, what was the plan?

Ashanna:   To be honest I tried to banish the thought of falling from my mind. But If I did fall, I probably would have just stayed on the floor, rolled off the stage, under a table and stayed for the rest of the night. Kidding, just dust it off and move on I think.

 

ETNT:  What do you do when you’re not being beautiful?

Ashanna:   I`m always being beautiful!  Kidding again.  I work, socialize with friends, plan world domination.

 

ETNT:  And what’s your ultimate goal?

Ashanna:   Oh I don`t want to say! Stay tuned for the next 5 years. I will say that it will be in the World of fashion though.

 

ETNT:  Backstage at shows, when one model doesn’t like another model, what sort of stuff do they do? You ever been a victim?

Ashanna:   n my experience, they just avoid each other. Personally, nothing negative involving another girl has ever happened to me backstage. Sorry no juicy story.

 

ETNT:  Think you have more fans or haters?

Ashanna:   I`m not sure. I think I have more fans, but maybe it`s because the fans show their support openly, haters operate more in the background, so that doesn`t give me the opportunity to do a head count.

 

ETNT:  Where are you from? I’ve never seen you anywhere in Trinidad but on TV?

Ashanna:   I live in Glencoe. And for the record I don`t see you anywhere either, sneaky ETNT! (oh no she didn’t!)

 

ETNT:  What’s a typical Saturday like in the life of ashannaarthur?

Ashanna:   Well it depends, if I don`t have any official engagements, I`m just relaxing. Might go to the mall, or run some errands. In the evening, I`ll probably be liming with my friends, having fun.

 

ETNT:  What’s the relationship status?

Ashanna:   Single. Am I too picky or are there slim pickings? Can`t say.

 

ETNT:  More of a long term or whatever-boys-are-so-easily-replaced (like myself) sort of girl?

Ashanna:   Oh I wish I knew the answer to that, still trying to figure it out myself. I think I`m in the second category most of the time, but maybe if I met the right person I would switch to the first category.

 

ETNT:  Who’s the worst bf you ever had and why? Come (make him out!)

Ashanna:   I have to say I`ve been very lucky, all of by boyfriends were absolutely wonderful. To be honest, if someone isn`t treating me well , they`re out of my life very quickly, so the only way you get to be my bf, is if they treat me great, no exceptions.

 

ETNT:  Any piercings, tattoos, gang signs?

Ashanna:   Just one piercing on the top of my left ear. Nothing too outrageous.

 

ETNT:  What are you looking forward to the most right now?

Ashanna:   My next level of study . I`m planning to start a fashion degree soon. I`m over the moon about this prospect and my future in this field.

 

ETNT:  What’s one of the worst/grossest things you’ve ever done, don’t lie?

Ashanna:   Oh no, I have to pass on this one.

 

ETNT:  If you could go back and change something from the past…?

Ashanna:   I probably would have studied an alternative major for my Bachelor`s degree. I studied Biology.  Biology ……. Fashion, not too much overlap there.
