Post Carnival Fashion

The Carnival season for many of us is a period where we let go of all our trauma, create remarkable memories with friends, get our 15minutes of fame as we cross the stage, party till we drop, show off that body we've been working on in the gym for months and most importantly Carnival is that time when we wear and take part in fashion trends we won’t be caught dead participating in all through the year.
Carnival is the one and only time of the year that you won’t be placed in ETNTs fashion police if you’re caught wearing a fluorescent green top, with a hot pink tights and yellow shoes. It’s also the only season where women can wear their shortest shorts on a Monday morning without being stared at by every passerby. Carnival is the season, but for 2011…. THE CARNIVAL SEASON IS OVER.
The season was a long and hectic one and now that’s its over getting back into the normal fashion trends may be a bit tedious and confusing. For those of you who were blinded by the fluorescent colours over the past three months, Here are a three new items that would soon be added to every  Trini woman’s must get list;

Jeggings
Confused?? Jeggings are basically extremely skinny jeans that look like leggings and are also worn like leggings. Jeggings are quite versatile. Since they’re still denim material, you don’t have to cover your butt, but they’re so slim and skin-tight like leggings that you can wear a long sweater or tee, a dress, or just throw a long cardigan over it. Before purchasing jeggings make sure they go well with your body type. If you don’t feel comfortable in them, don’t wear them – no one’s going to reject you for it!

Harem/Genie Pants
Harem pants or parachute pants alias genie pants by most Trinidadians are women's baggy long pants tapered at the ankle, with side flaps on the hip that button at the waist area. Harem pants are an upcoming fashion trend. They're billowy, sensuous and they create a sense of breadth. Depending on your figure type, this may not exactly be the look you are after, as harem pants have a tendency to add weight to fuller figures; however, with the right pair, you can create a stunning, sensual and exotic look. Harem pants can be complimented with a short top and a pair of high heels.



Rompers
A romper suit is a one-piece garment that is quickly affecting the fashion industry and for most women, it is becoming a must have in their closet. Somewhat similar to a coverall, rompers are loose fitting and usually have shorter legs that may be gathered at the end. Similar to short shorts, they can be dressed up or down.  During the day rompers can be worn over a bikini with sandals as fashionable beach wear. On the other hand at night rompers are great when complimented with heals and accessorized with jewelry to compliment their colour and simplicity. Rompers can be worn by women of all shapes and sizes.

So ladies now that you have been placed back in the fashion trend it’s time to wipe off those post-carnival glitters and pick up your credit-card. Shopping!!
