2010 Bikini Options

Oh yeah! It’s summer-time baby! If you’re flying out for the summer, just flew in, or intend to be on Maracas beach so much you might as well set up a tent; it’s the bikini season where the best of the best in beach bodies assemble to peacock their rippling taut muscles. Outside of Carnival Monday and Tuesday, this is when we loathe you most.

Choosing the perfect swimwear is very important, like even I underestimated how much. I thought the beach was about getting a good dip; no no no, girls should look stylish every time so it’s all about the look sand or street. The 2010 bathing suit trends are exquisite and designed to suit different tastes.  We’re seeing three categories: simple, vintage and modern. Every style has something unique, something which attracts attention and helps create a very sensual and attractive look.

Cut outs

These are one of the most trendy and sexy bathing suit styles for the season. Whether subtle cuts or huge chunky rips, they’ve been looking spectacular for years. They reveal the beautiful forms of the body, yet conceal a certain amount of skin making the style mysterious and sexy at the same time. The choice of color/s plays a big part in emphasizing the design.

Vintage styles

The vintage inspired designs will have you looking incredible at the sea side. From high waist banidis –tube top bikinis- to polka dot bikinis. Vintage with the almost inevitable hint of modern, they are perfect for the stylish women who love the 50’s fashion styles. These types of bathing suits, whether one or two piece, take you back and usually come with head pieces and matching sarongs or sheer dresses.

Modern two piece

The two piece bathing suit always gets jerked around; lots of people are trying to reinvent the wheel with this one.  And though you may be tempted to wear your matching underwear as swimwear, unless it’s an impromptu pool party, don’t.  The bikini is being giving some tweaking this summer to create different looks depending on the cut and coloration. Vivid colors and simple monochromes are looking just as gorgeous and there’s a style and fit for near everyone. A popular option for Trinis are variations of the bikini, we wear the bikini bottoms with spaghetti strap or tee-back vests.

Classic one piece

The one piece bathing suit will always be timeless. Everyone should own one mostly because well, you should. Thin or curvy, there’s a style for you just pick your cut. Going to a swimwear store and asking for a ‘one piece’ suit is the same as going to a clothing store and asking for a ‘black dress’. The options are vast, the cuts flattering or a mistake and the designs intricate, minute or loud, your pick. Choose a strapless, one shoulder or regular one piece bathing suit in one or multiple colors and you’re on your way to your very own ad, perhaps.

We haven’t even mentioned accessories, sandals, handbags, cover-up and the biggie - shades. However you fine tune it, add some spunk for personality, get some beach hats and chunky bangles or hide most of it in flowery sundresses.
