What has Dil-E-Nadan Been Doing?

Having the time of their lives; cliché or not. The 10 member band is whirling around the globe and is currently back in Trinidad for less than a month, with every weekend already booked.

ET&T spoke with Raymond Ramnarine one of band’s driving forces about the band’s endeavors. “This year was the biggest and I might say best ever for Dil E Nadan.” They topped their big win of 6 awards at the 103FM Hall of Fame Awards in 2005’s with 9 trophies this January’s.

The band which has played at the Queen’s birthday for the past 2 years was at Tobago Jazz Fest 2010, another first for the multifaceted band, Raymond tried summing up the experience with, “Just totally amazing. We were new and the crowd didn’t know what to expect but it was one of the best 25 minutes of our life, we did Palance in Rock and Roll and had Heritage Park just going crazy.”

Where have they been the past few months? “After carnival it’s really busy for the band. We had concerts booked from 2009 so it’s a matter of catching up to those gigs. This past month and a half we’ve been so many places. Miami, Canada, the ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ concert that I have every year, we carried it to Canada this year and it was completely sold out. We were in New York for the Mother’s Day concert. Something really good happened while we were in Miami. We won best playing band 3 times in the past:  2005, 2008 and 2009 and the official presentation was this year in downtown Miami. We got this big as heck trophy and it was just really a good feeling.”

Up Next? “London has been trying to get us since… me and Destra came out, which is a long time ago. We’ve been reaching as far as Holland, Spain but not there so in the next 2 to 3 weeks the band leaves for London to play at Poison UK Wet Fete.” On that trip we’ll head to Holland for 5 shows and all this is before we talk Labor Day Parkway, Caribana and Hamilton Carnival in Canada.
